Malay, Aklan- The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malay, Aklan, led by Mayor Frolibar S. Bautista, was awarded the prestigious 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 award for DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program at the Gawad Sulong 2024, held at Sequioa Timog Hotel, Quezon City, on August 30, 2024. This award recognizes Malay’s exceptional achievements in community development, particularly through its innovative and inclusive 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐥𝐚𝐝 project, which promotes sustainable fisheries.
The project, executed by the Malay Social Welfare Development Office (MSWDO) under Ms. Jerre Mae B. Prado and in collaboration with the Malay Agricultural Office led by Mr. Denric Augustos Sadiasa, has significantly supported sustainable agriculture and social welfare, benefiting the most vulnerable sectors of the community.
The Malay delegation included key officials, such as Chief Tourism Operations Officer Dr. Felix Delos Santos Jr., who explored potential partnerships to develop the project into an agri-tourism initiative.
This award is a proof to the collective efforts of the MSWDO and the Agricultural Office in implementing programs that positively impact the lives of Malay residents. It truly inspires the LGU-Malay to continue its commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth, ensuring that every Malaynon has the opportunity to thrive.
The Gawad Sulong 2024 ceremony brought together all the regions nationwide, celebrating excellence in governance and public service. The recognition of LGU-Malay as *Best Program Partner* highlights its leadership and innovative approach in community development and social welfare.
