
Senator Loren Legarda reaffirmed her unyielding support toward the active participation of local executives in a foreign study mission being held at the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, from 11-16 November 2024.
Made possible through the support of the Office of Senator Loren Legarda (OSL) and the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), the four-day mission aims to equip and enhance leadersโ perspectives on urban innovation, governance, and sustainability.
“We would like our local chief executives to gain important knowledge in helping modernize their respective localities, to help uplift the lives of their constituents,” said Legarda.
“Providing a new perspective from a country that has consistently been seen as a role model by neighbors should be able to pave the way for better policymaking and urban planning,” she added.
A total of 40 individuals are participating in the Adaptive Governance and Innovation for Local Executive (AGILE) Program under the auspices of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).
There are five mayors, one Sangguniang Kabataan official and two government employees from Antique, 24 mayors, government officials and employees from Aklan, four from the DAP, and four from the Senate of the Philippines.
Through direct engagement with Singapore’s policies, systems, and infrastructures, the participants will be able to gain insights on global best practices and innovative approaches to urban governance.
Singapore’s policies and models in areas such as smart city transformation, digital disruption, water management, and environmental planning.
“I am proud to have initiated and supported this foreign study mission as we continue to create a more inclusive, livable, and sustainable Philippines,” Legarda said.
“This is a development priority we must pursue with focus and resilience, knowing how it will save and improve the lives of Filipinos,” she added.
“Ensuring support for this foreign study mission is my way of further strengthening our commitment to advancing urban innovation, governance, and sustainability in the Philippines.”
