NEW WASHINGTON, Aklan- A driving safety advocate based in the province of Rizal is devoting much of his time to helping Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) not only with their rights on the road but also with their welfare as well. Joseph Delgado is not a PWD.
His father was from Barangay Polo, New Washington, Aklan. He uses social media to respect the rights of PWDs. His Facebook page currently has 57,000 followers.
In 2018, he founded the Alyansa ng mga may Kapansanan Na Nagmamaneho ng Sasakyan at Motor sa Pilipinas (ALKASAMOPI Inc.) through Republic Acts 7277 (AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE REHABILITATION, SELF-DEVELOPMENT, AND SELF-RELIANCE OF DISABLED PERSONS AND THEIR INTEGRATION INTO THE MAINSTREAM OF SOCIETY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.) and Batasang Pambansa 344 (An Act to Enhance the Mobility of Disabled Persons by Requiring Certain Buildings, Institutions, Establishments, and Public Utilities to install Facilities and Other Devices).
“I am helping the PWD’s because my father is one,” he told the Boracay Island News Network in an interview. He also collaborated with several organizations, such as the Buenavista Quezon Eagles and the Lady Eagles.
The collaboration is aimed at pursuing the dreams of PWDs in Luzon.
