
Bacolod- In setting up the direction of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 6, a Regional Management Conference (RMC) was held on April 15-16, 2024 at Resorts Negrense, Brgy. Punta Taytay, Bacolod City.
The conference was chaired by Regional Executive Director Livino B. Duran where he laid down the priority programs/projects of DENR 6.
This includes the agenda on the growing number of forest/grass fires in the region caused by El NiΓ±o which has damaged large areas of
National Greening Program (NGP) project sites and other A&D areas.
RED Duran reminded the Provincial and Community ENR Officers (PENROs/CENROs) to be more cautious in sending people in field activities because of rising heat index. He further stated that the personnel should prioritize their health.
βThe purpose of this RMC is to assess past performances, review the work and financial plan and timeliness of reports submission, but more or less this, is conducted to hear your concerns and give advices on what should be done,β said DENR 6 Regional executive Director
Livino B. Duran.
Other priority programs of the DENR 6 that were tackled were the following: the development of Panay, Guimaras and Negros Occidental Bridge; the expansion of the Caticlan Port at Aklan province to cater the cruise ships coming to Boracay Island and the Boracay Sustainable Tourism; the anticipated opening of the Jalaur Multipurpose Dam at Calinog, Iloilo; and, the implementation of Negros and Siquijor Island Region. /DENR 6
