Numancia, Aklan- The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) Numancia proudly secured 1st Runner-Up in the recently concluded 10th Aklan Provincial Rescuelympics held last April 10โ11, 2025 at the Aklan Sports Complex, Calangcang, Makato, Aklan.
Numancia Mayor Jeserelย Templonuevo said the Rescuelympics is an annual program of the Provincial Government of Aklan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO Aklan), aimed at enhancing the readiness and capabilities of local response teams. This yearโs event was judged by evaluators from various government agencies across Region VI.
“The competition tested the skills and coordination of participating LGUs in key response scenarios, including vehicular accident extrication, water search and rescue (WASAR), firefighting, and suicide incident management and response,” Templonuevo said.
The MDRRMC Numancia team was composed of members from the MDRRMO Numancia Disaster and Emergency Response Team, Bureau of Fire Protection โ Numancia, and Philippine Coast Guard โ Numancia Sub-Station.
Among the 16 participating LGUs across Aklan, LGU Malay โ MDRRMC emerged as Champion, followed by MDRRMC Numancia (1st Runner-Up) and LGU Nabas โ MDRRMC (2nd Runner-Up).
“This remarkable achievement reflects the teamโs hard work, dedication, and determination in strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response.Success is the result of hard work, perseverance, and the courage to never give up,” he added.
