KALIBO, Aklan— On October 21-24, 2025, the Department of Tourism Region VI (DOT VI) together with the Province of Aklan successfully opened the first‑day orientation for the “Accreditation on Wheels” program. The activity is an ongoing drive to bring government services closer to the people, delivering tourism accreditation directly to stakeholders across the province.
It is designed to streamline the accreditation of tourism‑related enterprises (TREs). By bringing the process on‑site, stakeholders can submit and complete all requirements without having to go to the regional office, making accreditation faster and more accessible.
Tourism stakeholders from various Aklan municipalities will joined the week‑long event. The program covers an orientation on the Updated Progressive Accreditation Guidelines, a Comprehensive Guide to the DOT Accreditation Process, and individual consultations with DOT VI Tourism Regulation Division staff.
DOT VI Regional Director Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez emphasizes that the Accreditation on Wheels initiative supports the DOT’s commitment to ensuring quality tourism services across Western Visayas.
“By bringing our services closer to our partners, we make accreditation not just a requirement but a shared goal toward professionalism and sustainable tourism development,” the Regional Director said.
The week‑long activity will also include on‑site DOT accreditation inspections across various tourism establishments in Aklan. In addition, DOT staff are stationed at Marzon Hotel to provide hands‑on assistance to establishments seeking DOT accreditation.
The DOT VI Accreditation on Wheels continues to make rounds in various provinces of the region, reaffirming its goal to bring the government closer to the people, deliver efficient public service, and promote the growth of the tourism industry.
