๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐ โ The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – VI (RTWPB-VI) officially began its public consultations to determine a new minimum wage for Western Visayas. The first session, held in Boracay Island on September 18, 2025, utilized a hybrid format, combining face-to-face meetings with virtual participation via Zoom.
The consultative meeting was held at Paradise Garden Hotel, Boracay.
Presided by its Vice-Chairperson, Dir. Arecio A. Casing Jr., the consultation was divided into two distinct sessions to ensure a safe and open forum for all stakeholders. The morning was dedicated to employers, allowing them to freely discuss financial viability and operational costs. The afternoon was for workers and their representatives, providing a platform to voice concerns about the rising cost of living and the demand for higher wages on the island economy like Boracay.
This proactive and evidence-based initiative is a direct response to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call for a more predictable and timely approach to wage adjustments. The input gathered from these sessions will be crucial in formulating a new wage order that effectively balances the needs of workers with the economic realities faced by employers.
