Duterte’s term will end soon with broken promises to workers
Members of the militant Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN)-Aklan march to mark the 133rd anniversary of International Labor Day.
The group said duterte administration failed the workers and instead hogtied them to quagmire of poverty, ending its term with a broken promises to workers and the Filipino people.
“Duterte failed to deliver meaningful change in the lives of workers and the entire Filipino people. Instead of providing just wages, employment and livelihood, Duterte has inflicted the people with killings, red-tagging, warrantless arrests and illegal imprisonment.” Lamented, Kim-Sin F. Tugna, BAYAN-Aklan Spokesperson.
The group recalled Duterte’s anti-covid19 response as the most anti-people approach. They claimed that at the height of the hype of the COVID-19 pandemic, people were treated like criminals under his militarist and corrupt response to the crisis brought about by this virus.
“In the midst of growling hunger and anxieties suffered by millions of Filipinos during this crisis, billions of funds were corrupted by Duterte’s regime and his cohorts under their conspiratorial and syndicate type of utilizing the funds that were supposedly used to safeguard the health and socio-economic welfare of the people.” Added, Tugna.
The group also said that the Duterte regime must be held accountable for its grave crimes that devastated the socio-economic welfare of the Filipino workers and the entire people, and this catastrophe is being brought about by its all-out subservience to the neoliberal policies dictated by the US.
“Through the years of his administration, Duterte has worsened hunger and poverty. The cost of basic commodities and services continues to rise because of the constant and bigtime increases in oil prices, while workers’ wages and salaries are bonded to an unlivable amount.” Tugna stated.
Furthermore, Tugna said that today’s celebration of 133rd year of the International Labor Day, plays is very significant in the nationwide effort for a progressive and democratic change.
“Eight days from this date, we are challenge to draw the right decision for our country. Duterte regime is desperately dipping its fascist manipulation of bringing back a dictatorial and extending its tyrannical reign to Malacañang in the face of Marcos-Duterte tandem. We must strengthen our ranks and collectively fight for a clean, peaceful and honest election and frustrate the heirs of the dictators and tyrants to rule for another years.” Tugna in his final statement.
The group proceeded to Aklan Parents and Teachers Association (APSTA) for the Meeting de Avance of MAKABAYAN-Aklan.#
