30 Police Officers in Boracay Island Graduate as Tourist Police

The Department of Tourism Region VI in partnership with the Police Regional Office 6 and the Municipality of Malay conducted the Integrated Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection (ITOPCOP) Training on August 22-25, 2022 in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.
The closing ceremony for thirty graduates of ITOPCOP Training was graced by DOT VI Regional Director Cristine C. Mansinares, Police Regional Office 6 Director PBGen Leo M. Francisco, Aklan Police Provincial Office Director PCOL Crisaleo R. Tolentino, Malay Municipal Police Station Chief PLTCOL Don Dicksie De Dios and Malay SB Member Alan Palma Sr.
Present also during the event were Aklan Police Provincial Office Deputy Provincial Director for Operations PLTCOL Bernard Ufano, Aklan Provincial Tourism Officer Ms. Roselle Ruiz and Malay Tourism Officer Mr. Felix Delos Santos Jr.
According to PSSg Lovel Protacio, one of the graduates, she was hesitant to attend the ITOPCOP Training because in her seven years in service, she thought that she already knew everything. However, upon listening to the lectures from resource speakers and completing the course, she realized that there is a lot more to learn.
“I am confident to say that you are all ready to be deployed in different areas of Aklan, particularly Boracay Island to perform your tasks as tourists police. You are now fully equipped with competence and the right attitude to do your respective jobs and mingle will types of tourists in this island,” PBGen Francisco said in his message to the graduates.
The closing ceremony was capped by the awarding of certificates and ITOPCOP pinning.
RD Mansinares hopes that the activity will continue to strengthen the inter-agency collaboration between the DOT, PNP, and the LGUs towards a shared goal of safer communities and safer destinations for everyone to visit.
