Abarro’s film, “Itinagong Sandali,” written and directed by the nursing student herself, won several awards during the culminating activity under the subject NUR 151 – Care of Older Adults, with the theme “HANDURAWAN: Handuraw sang Hunahuna, Kasingkasing sa Maluluy-on nga Pag-atipan.”

The film placed second overall among 22 participating sections while also receiving the awards for Best Film, Best in Storyline and Most Accurate. Abarro was named Best Lead Actress, while Crisiah Basilio received the Best Supporting Actress award.

The recognition further highlights Abarro’s growing involvement in filmmaking and acting. She previously appeared in the movie “I Remember You,” produced by Bente Production, after being referred to the production team by Boracay Island News Network.

Now pursuing her nursing degree at PHINMA University of Iloilo, Abarro continues to explore her passion for acting and storytelling while balancing her academic responsibilities. Her latest achievement demonstrates how creative filmmaking can complement nursing education by highlighting compassion, empathy and the experiences of older adults.

The HANDURAWAN filmmaking showcase brought together nursing students in a creative activity designed to reflect the importance of understanding, caring for and respecting the elderly.
