Shincheonji Volunteers, partners turn shared advocacies into community action

Cavite City-‘Nearly 300 served, 860 students engaged, 500 trees planted through collaborative community initiatives
Shincheonji Volunteers (SCJ Volunteers), together with government agencies, educational institutions, and civic partners, took part in three community initiatives supporting hunger relief, youth volunteerism, and environmental sustainability in Pasay City and Cavite.
Shincheonji Volunteers (SCJ Volunteers) strengthened its community service efforts by partnering with government agencies, educational institutions, and civic organizations in three initiatives supporting hunger relief, youth volunteerism, and environmental sustainability across Pasay City and Cavite.
The initiatives included the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Walang Gutom Kitchen feeding program, Kiwanis International Philippine Luzon District’s Kaalaman Champion, and the Roots for Resilience community tree-planting initiative.

Nearly 300 individuals served through feeding program
Twelve SCJ Volunteers supported the DSWD’s Walang Gutom Kitchen in Pasay City, assisting in food preparation and distribution for nearly 300 individuals from vulnerable sectors across two meal shifts.
The activity supported the government’s efforts to address hunger and food insecurity among food-poor Filipino families. SCJ Volunteers also plans to deploy volunteers monthly to sustain its support.
860 students engaged in youth volunteerism initiative
In Silang, Cavite, 21 SCJ Volunteers joined Kiwanis International Philippine Luzon District’s Kaalaman Champion at Sabutan Elementary School, engaging approximately 860 students from K-Kids, Builders Club, and Key Club.
As part of the program, volunteers conducted a 10-minute session introducing volunteerism and community service, assisted participants, and facilitated an interactive activity. The broader initiative aimed to reach 5,000 learners through onsite and online participation.
“By combining education, entertainment, and service, we helped young learners understand that everyone can make a difference. The activity also strengthened our partnership with Kiwanis International and opened the door to future environmental education initiatives.
“SCJ Volunteers will continue to turn lessons into action, build meaningful partnerships, and inspire people to serve their communities because every small act of service can create a lasting impact,” said SCJ Volunteers representative Maricel Modesto.
500 fruit-bearing seedlings planted for environmental sustainability
Meanwhile, 28 SCJ Volunteers joined 122 other participants in the Roots for Resilience initiative at MMDA Nature Park in Carmona, Cavite, resulting in the planting of 500 fruit-bearing seedlings, including cashew, guyabano, and jackfruit.
The initiative was organized by KOOPNAKAMIโMMDA MPC (Kooperatiba sa Pagpapaunlad ng mga Nagkakaisang Kawani ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Multi-Purpose Cooperative), in collaboration with the Anti-Global Warming Advocates of the Philippines, Inc. (AGWAP), SAKAMAY (Sandigan ng mga Kawani’t Manggagawa ng Mamamayan sa Kamaynilaan), MMDA K9 Unit, and SCJ Volunteers.
Beyond tree planting, SCJ Volunteers assisted in event preparations, food distribution, and environmental awareness, safety, and sustainability education.
Through these collaborative efforts, SCJ Volunteers continues to strengthen partnerships and mobilize volunteers to address social needs, encourage youth participation, and promote environmental responsibility.
