Boracay Remains Packed Despite Rising Fuel As Undas Travelers Prioritize Vacations

Boracay Island- Boracay’s continued influx of tourists despite successive fuel price increases shows that the island’s tourism appeal remains strong, even as travel and
transportation costs become more expensive.

There are several reasons behind this:

1. Holiday and Undas travel โ€“ The November 1 observance of All Saints’ Day, together with the long weekend, encourages families and groups to take vacations. Many visitors may have planned and booked their trips weeks or months ahead.

.2. Strong tourism demand โ€“ Boracay remains one of the Philippines’ most recognized beach destinations. For many domestic and foreign tourists, visiting the island remains a priority despite higher expenses.

3. Pre-booked vacations โ€“ Fuel price increases do not necessarily lead to immediate cancellations. Travelers with confirmed hotel bookings, flights and tour packages may decide to continue with their plans.

4. Different travel budgets โ€“ Not all tourists are equally affected by fuel increases. Some have allocated larger vacation budgets, while others save on accommodation, dining and activities to maintain their travel plans.

5. International tourist market โ€“ Boracay also attracts foreign visitors whose travel decisions are influenced by international flight schedules, holiday packages and previously arranged itineraries, not just local fuel prices.

The timing is also significant. A report published by BusinessMirror on October 31 identified Boracay as one of the leading destinations chosen by Filipino travelers for the 2026 Undas break. AirAsia MOVE booking data showed that 72% of flight bookings for the holiday were made at least 15 days in advance, compared with 51% in 2025.

Meanwhile, fuel prices remain volatile. GMA News reported that the latest October 27 adjustments included a โ‚ฑ1.20-per-liter diesel increase, although gasoline prices decreased by โ‚ฑ0.30.
