
KALIBO, Aklan- The 1st Hinuguran It Akeanon Trade Fair, held on April 17-28, 2023 at the Trade Hall, Capitol Grounds in Kalibo, Aklan, generated total sales amounting to P16.3 million, with P1.9 M in cash sales and P14.4 M in booked orders. Inspired by the annual Aklan Pina and Fiber Festival, the trade event was one of the highlights of the celebration of Aklan’s 67th founding anniversary.
“Hinuguran it Akeanon”, which means product of Aklanons’ hard work, showcased the creativity of Aklanon producers evident in intricately woven fabrics and wearables, high fashion apparel, fashion accessories, gift and souvenir items, furnishings and homestyle, as well as processed food, coffee, cacao, and coconut products. A total of 55 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the province exhibited their products in the twelve-day marketing event.
Several buyers were invited to witness the display of Aklanon craftsmanship and eventually led to market linkages with our MSMEs. Among those who came to visit the trade fair were Rustan’s Department Store, Tesoro’s Marketing Corp., Island Accents, Inc., Gillette International Export Company, Inc., fashion designers Ms. Lulu Tan-Gan and Ms. Jaki Peñalosa.
During the closing program last April 28, 2023, Provincial Director Ma. Carmen I. Iturralde of DTI Aklan expressed her gratitude to everyone who greatly contributed to the success of the fair, “Congratulations to all for surpassing the target sales but above all I am thankful for everyone’s cooperation in order to achieve this milestone.”
The trade fair was in partnership with the Provincial Government of Aklan, DTI-Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion, Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority, Provincial Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Council, Aklan Wearables and Homestyle Industry Council, Hugod Aklanon Producers Association, Inc., and Aklan Piña Manufacturers and Traders Association, Inc.
