Aklan continued to dominate the tourism landscape of Western Visayas in the second quarter of 2025, capturing 73% of all tourist arrivals in the region, according to the latest report of the Department of Tourism Region VI. Out of 847,393 visitors recorded from April to June, the bulk traveled to Boracay Island, reaffirming its position as the region’s main growth engine.
Tourism receipts reached an estimated ₱14 billion for the quarter, showing how visitor spending continues to stimulate local businesses—from hotels and restaurants to transport operators, suppliers, and small community enterprises.
Aklan and Boracay: Strong Market Demand
The report shows solid demand from both international and domestic travelers. South Korea, the United States, and Australia remain the top foreign markets, while local tourists still lead in overall numbers, keeping the industry vibrant even during off-peak months.
This sustained and diversified demand reflects Aklan’s strong brand equity and the continuing global appeal of Boracay’s natural environment, hospitality, and lifestyle offerings.

Culture and Tourism Working Together
Cultural activities, festivals, and heritage promotions across the province helped keep tourism active in the quarter. This synergy between culture and tourism is creating more reasons for visitors to stay longer and spend more—benefiting local entrepreneurs and producers.
Business Outlook: More Room to Grow
With solid arrival numbers and consistent market confidence, Aklan’s tourism sector continues to offer significant opportunities for business expansion and investment. Improved connectivity, steady infrastructure development, and the rise of new tourism products all point to strong future growth.
Both the local government and private sector are encouraged to continue working together to ensure sustained competitiveness, environmental protection, and a seamless visitor experience.
Aklan’s performance in 2025 confirms it: Boracay remains one of the Philippines’ strongest tourism assets—powerful, resilient, and full of potential.
