ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) has intensified security measures in major transport terminals, seaports, and airports across Western Visayas in response to the expected influx of holiday travelers.
As part of the heightened security operations for the holiday season, PRO6 has deployed 119 police personnel, augmented by 36 personnel from other concerned agencies and 70 force multipliers, to bus and jeepney terminals, roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ports, commercial seaports, and airports to ensure the safety and security of the riding public. In addition, the Regional Explosive and Canine Unit 6 is conducting random security checks. These measures aim to deter criminal activities, manage crowd movement, and provide immediate police assistance to travelers.
PRO6 Regional Director, PBGEN JOSEFINO D LIGAN emphasized that the intensified security coverage is part of the Philippine National Police’s commitment to provide a safe, peaceful, and orderly environment as families travel to reunite and celebrate the holidays.
“We want the public to feel safe and secure while traveling. Our personnel are on full alert to ensure swift response to any incident and to maintain peace and order in all major transport hubs in the region,” PBGEN LIGAN said.
PRO6 also reminds travelers to remain vigilant, safeguard their personal belongings, and immediately report any suspicious activities or unattended items to the nearest deployed police officer, or dial 911 for immediate police response.
The Police Regional Office 6 assures the public that it will continue to sustain heightened alert status and security operations throughout the holiday season to ensure the safety of all commuters and travelers in Western Visayas.
