TAYTAY, PALAWAN โ€” The Save Palawan Seas Foundation (SPSF) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines have strengthened their commitment to sustainable tourism following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on August 4, 2026.
The agreement formally launched SUSTAINABILISEA Phase 2: Strengthening Sustainable Tourism through Environmental Conservation and Community Empowerment, a corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at promoting environmental protection while supporting local communities.
Building on the successful partnership established in 2024, the second phase of the program will begin this August in Sitio Calabugtong, Taytay, Palawan, together with participating TPB members.
SUSTAINABILISEA Phase 2 will focus on key community interventions, including classroom rehabilitation and agricultural and community support, designed to help improve local facilities, strengthen community livelihoods, and contribute to more resilient communities.
The initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between government agencies, private organizations, tourism stakeholders, and local communities in advancing sustainable tourism.
Through the partnership, SPSF and TPB seek to demonstrate that tourism development can go hand in hand with environmental conservation and community empowerment, particularly in coastal areas vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
The program also highlights the role of tourism stakeholders in creating climate-resilient coastal communities while protecting the natural resources that serve as the foundation of the country’s tourism industry.
With the launch of Phase 2, SPSF and TPB reaffirm their shared commitment to making sustainability an integral part of tourism development and ensuring that local communities remain active partners and beneficiaries of responsible tourism.
The initiative carries forward the broader goal of promoting the Philippines not only as a premier tourism destination but also as a country committed to protecting its environment and empowering its communities.
