NUMANCIA, Aklan—A restaurant in Barangay Bulwang, Numancia Aklan, has prepared a special menu for the Valentine’s Day celebration. The menu features their specialty,’ lechon baboy.’
Cherry Villanueva, owner of the Cherry and Alex Lechon House told the Boracay Island News Network (BINN) that Lechon Baboy is a rare dish in the province because Aklan has not yet recovered from the effect of the Avian Swine Flu (ASF). The ASF disease has affected many hog producers in the province since 2023.n
Each kilo of ‘lechon baboy’ now costs P1,000 per kilo. But couples wanted to celebrate the Valentines could eat in moderation as they offer a half kilo or less.
“We now seldom sell a ‘lechon baboy’ because it is hard nowadays to buy a pig that is suitable for lechon. We are making the Valentines Day special not only for couples but also for the entire family,” Villanueva said.
The Lechon House opens as early as 9 am and will close as soon as the ‘Lechon Baboy’ servings are sold out.
