Aklan SP Secures Three Seats In PBMLP Regional Council

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan has once again received the vote of confidence in their leadership from other sanggunians in the region as three of its members secured positions in the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP) Regional Council for Western Visayas during the election of new regional officers held at the Grand Xing Hotel, Iloilo City on October 11, 2022, the most for a single province.
First District SP Member Teddy C. Tupas was voted as the Regional Secretary-General while First District SP Member Nemesio P. Neron and Second District SP Member Bayani M. Cordova were both elected as Regional Board of Directors for the 2022-2025 term.
The SP Aklan delegation for this term’s PBMLP Regional Council Elections was composed of SP Members Nemesio P. Neron, Mark V. Quimpo, Mark Ace L. Bautista, Teddy C. Tupas, and Apolinar C. Cleope from the First Provincial District; SP Members Jay E. Tejada, Romeo M. Dalisay, Jupiter Aelred G. Gallenero, Bayani M. Cordova, and Plaridel M. Solidum from the Second Provincial District; and, PCL-Aklan Chapter President and ex-officio SP Member Roly O. Equiña, Jr.
The PBMLP, the largest aggrupation of provincial board members of the different Sangguniang Panlalawigan in the country, aims to unite into one cohesive group and to have a strong voice in the formulation of national policies affecting local governments, particularly and especially where it concerns the provincial legislative bodies and local governments.
PBMLP Region 6, composed of board members from Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental, has always been an active partner of the various LGUs in Western Visayas in ensuring efficient delivery of services through the passage of various resolutions and ordinances for the benefit of its constituents.
The newly-elected members of the PBMLP Region 6 Council, whose oath of office was administered by Iloilo Vice Governor Christine Garin, are expected to serve until the end of their term on June 30, 2025.
Joining Tupas, Neron and Cordova as newly-elected officials of PBMLP Region 6 are:
Chairman – SP Member Marcelino Valentine S. Serag of the First Provincial District of Iloilo
Vice Chairperson – SP Member Emmanuel C. Palacios, Jr. of the Second Provincial District of Antique
Treasurer – SP Member Rolando B. Distura of the 4th Provincial District of Iloilo
Auditor – SP Member Marilyn G. Edang of the Second Provincial District of Guimaras
Public Relations Officer – SP Member Elmer P. Arevalo of the Second Provincial District of Capiz
Board of Directors:
SP Member Mayella Mae P. Ladislao of the First Provincial District of Antique
Raymond H. Gavileño of the First Provincial District of Guimaras
Thea Faith T. Reyes of the First Provincial District of Capiz
The election was conducted under the supervision of DILG 6 Assistant Regional Director Maria Calpiza J. Sardua who served as the designated PBMLP COMELEC Chairperson.
