Boracay Women MPC Empowered in Joining the ASEAN Meet

BORACAY Island- Members of the Boracay Women Producers Cooperative (BIWPC) felt empowered that they were invited to participate in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Digital Ministers Meeting on this resort island.

Desiree Segovia, who chairs the BIWPC, said they are thankful to DICT Usec Atty Jocelle Batapa Sigue for giving them the opportunity to join the 3rd ASEAN DIGITAL MINISTERS MEETING by being participants in the Philippines Regional Product Showcase and Partner’s Exhibit.

The DICT is hosting the 3rd ADGSOM, ADGMIN, and Related Meetings from February 6 to 10, 2023, with the theme, “Synergy Towards a Sustainable Digital Future.” The event is being held at the Shangri-La Boracay.

“Boracay Women Producers Cooperative will display and sell our products to global CEOs and top-level managers during the one-week important digitalization activity of our country! See u at the Shang ,” she said in a facebook post.

The ASEAN meeting discussed collaborative efforts in digitally transforming the region through ICT and building stronger partnerships among ASEAN Member States (AMS) in four areas: Safe Cyberspace, Citizen-centric Governance, Digital Inclusion, and Innovation-driven Economy.

Among the delegates attending the meeting were delegates from the Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Viet Nam, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, and dialogue partners: UK, India, Australia, China, Japan, US, New Zealand, Canada, EU, Republic of Korea and Russia.

The BWPC has a membership of a thousand women residents of Boracay and is seeing this as an opportunity to showcase the works of Akeanon women.
