DENR REGION 6 Now Chairs Jalaur Management Council

Iloilo City- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 officially received the Key of Responsibility as they assume the Chairmanship of the Jalaur River Basin Management Council.

The turn-over ceremony between DENR 6 headed by OIC-Regional Executive Director Raul L. Lorilla and Municipality of Calinog headed by Mayor Francisco L. Calvo was conducted during the council meeting held at the Calinog Municipal Conference Room on October 30, 2024. It was witnessed and attended by the various government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and representatives from the Community ENR Office Barotac Nuevo, as well as personnel from the Iloilo Provincial Government ENRO and DENR 6.

Mayor Calvo expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts undertaken. While, RED Lorilla, takes a new challenge as the chair of council, reaffirmed the commitment of the DENR to continue fostering partnerships and implementing sustainable practices that benefitted both the community and preserve natural resources.

During the meeting, discussion about the ongoing projects and future initiatives aimed at enhancing the health of the Jalaur River Basin, ensuring that it remains a sustainable source of water and biodiversity for generations to come was also tackled. /DENR 6
