Roxas City- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI continues to provide immediate assistance to families affected by Tropical Depression Ramil, leading a relief operation in Barangay Baybay, Roxas City, Capiz.
The distribution was personally led by OIC-Regional Director Joselito Estember, along with ARDO Katherine Joy Lamprea and OIC-ARDA Ryan Dela Gente. The operation was carried out in close coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Roxas City through the Provincial and City Quick Response Teams (QRTs).
Affected families received Family Food Packs (FFPs), while internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying in evacuation centers were provided with Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) boxes. The RTEFs were provided to families who could not access markets or cook meals due to flooding.
“These food packs are meant to provide immediate relief to families,” said Director Estember. “Each Family Food Pack contains 6 kilos of rice, canned goods, cereal drink and coffee. The RTEF boxes, on the other hand, contain pre-packed meals that are ready to eat and do not require preparation.”
The team also visited several evacuation centers in the area to personally check on displaced families and identify additional needs on the ground.
DSWD Field Office VI assured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation and deliver further support to affected families as needed./DSWD6/tfal
