Since then, various strong typhoons have been recorded in Aklan, among them the historic typhoon Yolanda in 2013.

Recently, typhoon Parng was also experienced in the province, which caused massive flooding in many parts of Aklan, especially in the Eastern District.

The weather system was made by West Point Engineering Supplies, Incorporated, based in Bulacan.

“The public, especially the DRRMO officials and the local government unit, could access the weather forecasting system online free of charge anytime,” Sucgang told the Boracay Island News Network.

Through the meteostation, the local government unit has now access to real-time data on rainfall and other parameters. “Dapat nakita na agad ang heavy rainfall na yun ng mga concerned and Should have been made the basis of early classes and work suspension,” he added.
