NABAOY, MALAY, AKLAN – During the 73rd Alumni Homecoming of Nabaoy Elementary School, incoming Sangguniang Bayan member Grengo Gelito delivered a heartfelt speech that combined gratitude, legislative vision, and a powerful message of unity.

Representing Hon. Mayor Floribal S. Bautista, Councilor-elect Gelito conveyed the mayorโ€™s warm greetings and appreciation to the alumni and the people of Barangay Nabaoy for their support in the last election.โ€œ

I am honored to be here not only as your forthcoming councilor but also as the mayorโ€™s representative tonight,โ€ Gelito said. โ€œMayor Bautista asked me to personally thank you for your trust, especially those who supported his leadership. He deeply values your partnership with his administration.โ€

Gelito, who garnered 255 votes in the last election in Nabaoy, expressed personal gratitude to his supporters while humbly reaching out to those who voted for other candidates. โ€œI am here to serve everyone, regardless of political leanings, background, or belief. Our goal is sharedprogress and responsive governance,โ€ he emphasized.
He said his commitment goes beyond campaign promises and extends to sincere service rooted in active listening and inclusive leadership.

A focal point of Gelitoโ€™s message was his clear stand on legislation. โ€œGood local governance begins with good legislationโ€”laws that are not just formalities, but instruments of real change,โ€ he said. Gelito underscored the need for laws that are relevant, participatory, and attuned to the actual needs of barangays. He stressed that meaningful legislation stems from constant consultation and connection with the community.

Turning to the homecoming celebration, Gelito commended the theme โ€œMana Tan Dati,โ€ calling it a moving reminder of shared memories, values, and responsibility. He encouraged alumni to stay united and actively contribute to their alma mater, saying, โ€œUnity among alumni is not just sentimental; itโ€™s powerful. You can make a lasting difference in the lives of students and in the future of this school.โ€

Although not an alumnus himself, Gelito promised his support for Nabaoy Elementary School in his official capacity. โ€œEducation is everyoneโ€™s concern,โ€ he said. โ€œAnd I will stand behind initiatives that improve school facilities, assist learners, and uplift the youth of our community.โ€ Gelito concluded by congratulating the organizers, commending the teachers, and calling on everyone to continue building on the values they all share.
