Magcope leads Aklan PAFC, as new set of Committee heads named

KALIBO, Aklan- As stipulated in Executive Order No. 116, Rule 113.1 of the Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural and Fisheries Modernization Law of 1997, the Agricultural and Fishery Council (AFC) must be organized in the regional, provincial, city, municipal and barangay levels.
This council is organized to encourage people participation and empowerment of agricultural and fishery development through sectoral representation in agricultural policy making bodies so that its policies, plans and programs are formulated/executed to satisfy the needs of its clientele. It is also being done to use the bottom โ€“ up, self reliant farm systems approach to promote social justice, equity, productivity and sustainability in the use of agriculture and fishery resources.

Following the recently concluded Election of Officers of the Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) as officiated by Governor Jose Enrique M. Miraflores last July 26, 2023, Mr. Arnulfo T. Magcope remains as the Chairperson of Aklan PAFC. Mr. Magcope will work alongside elected Vice Chairperson Mr. Godynel C. Isedenia, together with the Executive and Sectoral Committees for CY 2023-2026.

Aklan PAFC is composed of representatives from the private sector (organizations/associations/cooperatives/individual farmers & fishers), government sector and other stakeholders in agriculture and fisheries. PAFC is further mandated to come out with policy resolutions and position papers on matters affecting agri-fishery. PAFC serves as voice & bridge in attaining growth & development in agriculture.

The electoral board is composed of Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Alexys T. Apolonio; Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Ma. Cyrosa Leen Mabel C. Sinel; and OPA-Fisheries Division Chief Christian V. Deza. With the assistance from DA PCAF Ms. Romielle Lorelei Garcia and COMELEC- Aklan representative.
