The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) today said it has foiled an escape-attempt of 3 prisoners from the NBI Detention Center led by Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa.
NBI OIC-Director Eric B. Distor said that the swift and timely action of his Agents prevented the escape of Espinosa and 2 other prisoners. Distor added that he commends his new Chief and his Executive Officer (ExO) of the Security Management Section (SMS) for acting with dispatch that resulted in thwarting the plan of Kerwin Espinosa from escaping from the NBI jail. “As soon as they received the info, they immediately acted on it without delay”.
He said that on January 13, 2022, the Chief of the NBI-SMS and his ExO received an info that Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa and 2 other detainees are planning to escape our detention facility thru the hole of the exhaust fan at the ceiling. On the same night, they immediately conducted an inspection of the jail. In one of the cells of the jail, the raiding team of Agents observed a deformed exhaust fan, which when emoved, exposed a hole fit for a detainee to escape.
“In view of this incident, security measures at the jail has since been tightened with regular inspection of all jail facilities”, Distor emphasized.
