KALIBO, Aklan- An apparent political crisis among provincial Tibyog executives is brewing as the conflict between second district congressman Teodorico Haresco and Vice Governor Boy Quimpo .

In a press conference held Friday, Cong. Haresco reprimanded Quimpo and several members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for what seems to be unapologetic for their earlier(August 3) decision to declare several Camarines Sur lawmakers “persona non grata.”

At the press conference, Haresco specifically called on Quimpo and Provincial Board Members Nemesio Neron and Apolinar Cleope for authoring the persona non grata tag. The SP later withdrew the persona non grata tag upon the prodding of Haresco.

The withdrawal is supposed to already resolve the conflict, but Quimpo made a privilege speech last August 8 as he claimed that he was the one who headed the campaign against the controversial BIDA Bill 1.

The privilege speech of Qimpo has further angered Haresco, who prompted him to call the different stakeholders in Boracay and Aklan who vocally campaigned against the passage of the BIDA Bill 1. The stakeholders were composed of local governments in the Western District and various associations composed of transport, women, sports, photographers, and Boracay Ati Tribal Organizations, among others.

All of the stakeholders present said that they do not recognize and disown Quimpo as the champion who fought against the passage of the Bida Bill 1.

“I will talk to former Governor Florencio Miraflores on what to do with Vice Governor Quimpo. This is a lesson that we should address, “he said.

Also present during the press conference were provincial board members Jupiter Gallenero and Romeo Dalisay. They both admit that they did not obtain Haresco’s permission to declare Bicol lawmakers persona non grata.

“Hon. Luis Raymund Villafuerte, Camarines Sur Representative II, has aired his sentiments that he may support the candidate against Quimpo in the next election.” Haresco said.

It was gathered that Quimpo served as the legal counsel of Tibyog since it was founded several years ago. Quimpo is currently the last termer Vice Governor, but it’s a long way to go to determine his next step in Aklan politics.

The Boracay Island News Network hopes that this internal Tibyog conflict will be resolved soon for a unified Aklan leadership.
