ILOILO CITY- Anchored in the 5-focused agenda of CPNP, PGEN Benjamin C. Acorda, Jr., specifically on Integrity Enhancement and the intensification of its Internal Cleansing Program, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) completes the targeted 15,000 pieces of drug-test kits to be used for its organic personnel on August 11, 2023.
This brainchild initiative of PBGEN Sidney N Villaflor, PRO6 Regional Director, started upon his assumption of office on May 24, 2023 and still continues until it reaches its goal of 100% drug-tested organic personnel.
Based on the record of the Regional Forensic Unit 6, from May 24, 2023 to August 9, 2023, a total of 11,219 PRO6 organic personnel were already drug-tested or 84.42% of its total strength of almost 14,000 personnel. And out of this number, only two (2) personnel turned out positive which constitute 0.018% of the total drug-tested personnel.
The said two (2) personnel are undergoing investigation with the possible penalty of Dismissal from the Police Service.
The 15,000 drug testing kits was procured through the Philippine Anti-Drug Strategy (PADS) Fund are more than enough to cater all organic personnel of Police Regional Office 6. The drug tests will be conducted randomly in the different police stations and units region-wide, until it reaches 100%.
“This is a proof that Police Regional Office 6 under my leadership is absolutely serious about checking our personnel’s integrity and commitment to their sworn duty and is free from any issues regarding illegal drugs. As law enforcers, we are not exempted from the scrutiny of the public. We need to have moral ascendancy in fighting illegal drugs. And since the government has provided us with funds, this initiative is the best way of using it judiciously.” said RD Villaflor.
