KALIBO, Aklan-Kalibo Mayor Juris Bautista-Sucro has recently vowed that one of his flagship priorities under the banner Bagong Kalibo is to become a city.
As part of this initiative, Kalibo’s LGU is currently on the move, preparing Kalibo for cityhood.
Before this March ends, Sucro is expected to break ground on a P300 million project for the construction of a three-story public market. The said market, when realized, would give Kalibonhon a fresh view of the market.
Earlier, Rey Villaruel of the Kalibo Treasurer’s Office claimed that the local government aims to build a mass transport system similar to that of Metro Trail Transit and a Skyway.
Villaruel said the skyway is aimed at easing pollution and traffic problems in Kalibo.
“We have yet to study the possible locations of these skyways and the MRT,” he added.
But the current development is concentrated on the so-called Kalibo “triangle,” consisting of barangays Pook, Andagao, and Nalook.
Kalibo Councilor Ronald Marte also barrd that there is an investor who is planning to develop the coast area of Lambingan Beach.
“The plan is to make the area an entertainment site for Kalibo providing nightlife and a new business hub for this town,” he added.
Will all these plans materialize? Abangan.
