Undas 2023 in Western Visayas generally peaceful, PRO6 records say.

ILOILO CITY—The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) recorded zero (0) incident related to the celebration of Undas 2023 inside private and public cemeteries and columbaria, making it generally peaceful.

PRO-6 deployed a substantial number of law enforcement personnel and implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of our cemetery goers and the overall community of Western Visayas during the celebration of the UNDAS 2023. PRO6 has deployed 3,814 security forces composed of 1,607 PNP personnel and 648 augmentation personnel from other units who were deployed in Police Assistance Desks/Assistance Hubs, and the mobilization of 1,559 members of force multipliers. These collective efforts of the PRO-6 personnel, in collaboration with other government agencies, force multipliers, and local government units, contributed to the peaceful conduct of the Undas 2023.

Through the decisive interventions and collective efforts of all line units, there was a notable decrease in crime incidents. From October 31 to November 2, 2023, there were 108 crime incidents, a decrease of 79 incidents, or 42.25%, compared with 187 incidents in 2022. Likewise, on 8 Focus Crimes, PRO6 recorded a total of 9 incidents for the period, which is 15 incidents, or 62.5%, lower when compared with 24 incidents in the previous period.

PRO6 has also maintained its Best Practices during the celebration, to wit: Deployment of Area Supervisors and Red Teams to supervise the strict implementation of Operational Guidelines for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day and the conduct of Red Teaming Operations for the orderly and peaceful observance of the traditional celebration; Utilization of vloggers in the conduct of information dissemination and monitoring; Creation of Viber Group for real-time reporting; and the Distribution of food packs to deployed personnel initiated by the Command Group.

PBGEN Sidney N Villaflor, PRO6 top cop, expressed and extended his gratitude to all personnel and units involved in the successful celebration of Undas 2023, as well as to the community. “Isa na naman pong accomplishment na maituturing ang katatapos lamang na selebrasyon ng Undas ngayong taon. Wala po tayong naitalang ano mang insidente na may kinalaman sa pagdiriwang ng Undas. Ito po ay dahil sa kooperasyon at pagsunod sa batas ng ating mamamayan.” PBGEN Villaflor said.
