
Malay, Aklan- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has once again recognized the Municipality of Malay, Aklan, with the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) under the outstanding leadership of Mayor Hon. Frolibar Sacapaรฑo Bautista and Vice Mayor Hon. Niรฑo Carlos Cawaling. This remarkable achievement marks Malayโs third consecutive year of receiving the award, solidifying its reputation for excellence in governance. The accolade was conferred during a grand awarding ceremony held on December 9, 2024, at the Manila Hotel.
Out of thousands of Local Government Units (LGUs) nationwide, Malay successfully passed the assessment standards, standing out as a model of effective and efficient governance. Among the key components that contributed to this success was the outstanding performance of the Municipal Tourism Office, led by Dr. Felix Delos Santos Jr. Through its proactive and innovative initiatives, the Tourism Office,
particularly the Culture and Arts and Events Division, headed by Mr. Rex Aguirre, played a pivotal role in successfully achieving the eight assessment components set by the DILG.
The Municipal Tourism Office has consistently championed programs that promote culture, arts, and tourism, driving economic growth and enhancing the municipalityโs position as a premier destination for both local and international travelers. This recognition underscores the Tourism Officeโs steadfast dedication to elevating Malayโs tourism industry while upholding sustainable and inclusive development.
Moreover, the SGLG Award serves as a prominent evidence to LGU-Malayโs commitment to good local governance, anchored in the principles of transparency, integrity, and innovative service delivery.
