
KALIBO, Aklan- The Department of Justice (DoJ), in cooperation with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), is ready to file murder charges on Monday, November 7, 2022, in the killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid Mabasa.
In a press conference at Bistro Cafe here, Roy Mabasa, the older brother of Percy, said that he had already been briefed about the case at the case conference held in Metro Manila recently.
“I was informed that there are around 13 suspects, including masterminds, to be charged with murder. I hope both the DoJ, the NBI, and the Philippine National Police will still continue investigating the case,” he said.
Percy Lapid was shot to death by a ding in tandem while he was on his way to his studio on October 3, 2022.
“The motive of the killing is still unclear as of this time,” Mabasa said.
For his part, Noel Cabobos, founding officer of the Aklan Media Integrated Alliance (AMIA), said a mass seeking justice for the death of Percy Mabasa was held at the St. John the Baptist Cathedral here Sunday.
The mass was in coordination with the Aklan Press Club.
Mabasa, after the mass, also met with Kalibo Bishop Jose Romeo Tala-oc, asking for prayers that justice would be obtained for their family.
