The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI will be releasing an initial amount of Php3.75 million as subsidy for small rice retailers in the region.
The amount is targeted to help 250 small rice retailers identified by the Department of Trade and Industry.
“We are fast tracking the processing of the Subsidy so that the micro rice retailers will get the aid as soon as possible.” said Atty. Carmelo N. Nochete, Regional Director.
The implementation of the subsidy is under the Sustainable Livelihood Program – Economic Relief Subsidy (SLP – ERS) to help small rice retailers cope with the impact of losses due to imposition of price ceiling and freezing of rice prices in the country as mandated by the President under Executive Order 39.
The relief assistance is designed with the aim of alleviating conditions of the vulnerable micro retailers in the region.
The rice retailers will be provided with a maximum of Php15,000 subsidy, a one-time assistance due to the current situation.
The subsidy will be released as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the agency is waiting for the list of micro rice retailers from DTI, the sole agency responsible in identification of the retailers who will be receiving the one-time grant./dswd6/Nicole Ebojo
