
Boracay Island, Malay Aklan- The Municipality of Malay, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Frolibar S. Bautista, continues to pursue strategic international partnerships to advance its tourism agenda. Represented by Vice Mayor Hon. Nino Carlos Cawaling, Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Dalidig Sumndad (Chair of the Committee on Tourism), and Dr. Felix G. Delos Santos Jr., Chief Tourism Operations Officer, Malay participated in a Business-to-Business (B2B) engagement held in Zhangjiajie, China on May 29, 2025.
This engagement was conducted in response to an official invitation from the Zhangjiajie Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television, and Sports, represented by Qin Jing, Head of the Marketing Department, and Xiang Zhenyu, Marketing Department Staff. The event was organized in partnership with One Stop China, represented by the General Manager of 5 Stars Premium Holidays Travel and Tours,Kaye Xu, and Alin Deng, Sales Director. As part of their itinerary, the Malay delegation also made a courtesy visit to the Zhangjiajie Travel Agencies Association, where they were warmly received by Mr. Liu Shaoling; Mr. Gong Guangming, Vice President; and Ms. Liu Yang, Deputy Secretary-General.
The B2B event brought together key tourism stakeholders from both the Philippines, Claribel Casimero from (BITATOA), Boracay Island Travel Agencies and Tour Operators Association, Ms. Elke D. Ginggaray of Mandala Spa Resort and Villas, Mr. Bobby Casimero, from (MALTOA) Malay Tourguide Association, and China, aiming to strengthen mutual cooperation, encourage knowledge sharing, and establish productive business linkages in the tourism sector.
The participation of the Malay delegation in this international event marks a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to diversify and expand Boracay Islandโs foreign tourist markets. This initiative specifically seeks to revitalize the interest of Chinese travelersโone of Boracayโs most substantial and valued tourist demographics.
By fostering stronger ties with Chinese tourism industry players and exploring collaborative opportunities, the Municipality of Malay reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable tourism development, international partnerships, and cultural exchange. This initiative also aligns with the local governmentโs broader strategy to accelerate economic recovery and enhance community resilience in the post-pandemic era.
