𝗗𝗠𝗪, 𝗧𝗶𝗸𝗧𝗼𝗸 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘂𝗽 𝘃𝘀 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗺𝘀

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) partnered with TikTok Pte. Ltd, the world’s leading short-form video platform, to further enhance digital safeguard and protection of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) against illegal recruitment and online job scams.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and TikTok PH Public Policy Head Yves Gonzalez signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that paves way for strengthened collaboration between the DMW and TikTok in combatting online job scams through stricter content monitoring, user empowerment, and enhanced information dissemination.
The agreement signed during the celebration of the World Day Against Trafficking, on July 30, 2025 at the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City, is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to empower and protect OFWs from illegal recruiters and syndicates.
“Sa TikTok mas mapapalakas ang ating laban kontra illegal recruitment. We are being alert, Tiktok is a means in which we fight illegal recruitment, we ensnare the illegal recruiters,” Secretary Cacdac said.
Since 2023, the DMW in collaboration with TikTok Philippines has taken down and deactivated close to 41,000 fake job postings and accounts in TikTok, including suspicious posts on the recruitment of Filipinos abroad.
Under the partnership, the DMW and TikTok will also collaborate on the account verification and information dissemination of legitimate and trusted source of information, and will ban the scam or fraudulent accounts involved in severe or repeated violations.
Also, TikTok Philippines will also help the DMW in its digital investigation and content moderation protocols.
“Safety is our top priority in TikTok,” said Tiktok Public Policy Manager Peachy Paderna, affirming the platform’s commitment to the partnership.
DMW Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay, the Officer-in-Charge of the DMW Strategic Communications Service, meanwhile issued a strong warning to online illegal recruiters, “We may not be able to close you down, but we will take you down.”
