DSWD on high alert as PAGASA raises signal no.1 in Western Visayas

Iloilo City- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) remains on high alert after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in parts of Western Visayas due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong.

The warning covers the northern portion of Iloilo, the provinces of Capiz and Aklan, and the northern and central areas of Antique, including the Caluya and Calamian Islands.

To ensure immediate assistance to residents who may be affected, Family Food Packs (FFPs) have been strategically placed across all prepositioned sites.

This effort is coordinated through the Regional, Provincial, and Municipal Quick Response Teams in partnership with the RDRRMC Logistic Cluster member agencies.

DSWD6 stressed its readiness to provide aid and assured that no family will be left hungry amid the weather threat.

The public is advised to stay updated on local weather reports, follow safety protocols from their respective Local Government Units (LGUs) and evacuate if necessary./jam
