
NEW WASHINGTON, Aklan- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) continues to extend assistance to families affected by recent weather disturbances through the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.
Recently, DSWD facilitated the distribution of cash assistance to 564 target beneficiaries in the municipality of New Washington, Aklan, who were classified as slightly or severely affected by Typhoon Tino.
Under the ECT, severely affected beneficiaries received PHP 10,325, while those slightly affected received PHP 5,369 to help them recover and meet their basic needs.
DSWD Angels in Red Vests facilitated the distribution to ensure that aid reached the rightful beneficiaries.
To maintain an orderly process of the payout, help desks were set up to address beneficiariesโ concerns, while the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) established a first-aid station for any medical emergencies.
The BBM Serbisyo, or Basta Beripikado Mabilis ang Serbisyo, online registration was also conducted. The digital platform uses the PhilSys ID to verify the agencyโs client beneficiaries to prevent fraud and duplication and to efficiently deliver social services to those who need them most.
The assistance is in line with the directive of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and the mandate of President Ferdinand โBongbongโ Marcos Jr. to continue providing support to affected families until they fully recover.
The agency emphasized that all distributions follow a thorough and transparent process, guided by Memorandum Circular No. 11, which outlines the Revised Guidelines on the Conduct of Emergency Cash Transfers.
