Boracay Island- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) raised its Regional Emergency Operations Center (REOC) alert status from White to Red in connection with the 44th ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) Chairs Meeting in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan from March 23-28, 2026.
The directive was issued through a memorandum signed by Regional Director Joselito G. Estember, following Memorandum No. 24, series of 2026, of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council VI, which raised the alert status of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (RDRRMOC) from White to Red.
The heightened alert status was implemented to ensure continuous monitoring and preparedness for any emerging situations that may arise during the high-level event.
Under the memorandum, all Quick Response Team (QRT) members from Aklan Province identified for Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) augmentation were directed to coordinate closely with the REOC and monitor the local situation in relation to the ASEAN meeting.
The QRTs were also instructed to remain on standby and be ready for augmentation should the need arise.
The memorandum further required that all incident-related data, including initial and Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reports, be forwarded to the Disaster Response Information Management Section (DRIMS) to ensure timely reporting and a coordinated response.
The activation of the Red Alert status underscores DSWD6’s commitment to maintaining readiness and ensuring an immediate response throughout the duration of the high-level regional meeting./jam
