Aklan Agriculture Councils, Farmer to be Honored in Gawad Saka Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY — Three agriculture and fisheries stakeholders from Aklan are set to receive recognition during the Gawad Saka Regional Awarding Ceremony of the Department of Agriculture–Western Visayas on October 5, 2026.
In a letter dated September 14, DA–Western Visayas Regional Executive Director Dennis R. Arpia invited Aklan Governor Jose Enrique M. Miraflores to the awarding ceremony, which will be held at the JR Hall, Diversion 21 Hotel in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The ceremony will recognize 15 Gawad Saka regional winners from across Western Visayas for their achievements, dedication, innovation and contributions to the agriculture and fisheries sector.
Among the Aklan awardees are the Aklan Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council (PAFC), the Kalibo Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council (MAFC), and Ramon R. Rasco, who were recognized as Outstanding PAFC, Outstanding MAFC, and Outstanding Farmer, respectively.
According to Arpia, the participation and support of the Aklan provincial and municipal agriculture and fisheries councils throughout the Gawad Saka selection process helped highlight the accomplishments of the province’s deserving awardees.
The DA–Western Visayas also invited Aklan’s Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Alexys T. Apolonio and the province’s Gawad Saka focal person to join Governor Miraflores and the awardees during the regional celebration.
The Gawad Saka program recognizes outstanding farmers, fisherfolk, agricultural organizations and other stakeholders whose efforts contribute to the growth and development of the agriculture and fisheries sector.
