DoT Sees More Investments for VisMin Hotels As Key To Regional Tourism Development

Cabu City- The Department of Tourism (DOT) is pushing for more investment opportunities in the hospitality industry of Visayas and Mindanao as it recognizes the importance of quality accommodation establishments in welcoming guests across the regions.

This comes as the DOT joins the Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA) in co-presenting Cebu Hotel Connect 2026. It brought together industry leaders, investors, and developers to discuss emerging trends and strategies shaping Philippine hospitality.

Representing Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay, DOT Undersecretary Maria Victoria Jasmin highlighted that in order to make entire destinations developed and investment-ready, all segments of tourism must be supported.

“Tourism is not simply a sector to be promoted through marketing and branding. Tourism is an investment platform. It connects infrastructure, connectivity, finance, technology, communities, and the private sector to create the conditions for sustainable growth. Investors do not invest in isolated sectors. They invest in ecosystems,” Usec. Jasmin said on behalf of Secretary Angara-Mathay.

Featuring discussions led by renowned figures in the hospitality industry, the Cebu Hotel Connect provided a platform for stakeholders to explore not only investment opportunities but prospective partnerships towards developing accommodation and tourism projects.
