Filipino Hospitality Takes the Lead as Savoy Hotel Manila Wins Asia’s Leading Airport Hotel

Manila- Filipino hospitality has earned renewed regional recognition as Savoy Hotel Manila was named Asia’s Leading Airport Hotel 2026 and Philippines’ Leading Airport Hotel 2026 at the World Travel Awards, marking its sixth consecutive win in the Philippine category and its second Asia level recognition.
For Socrates “Sonny” Alvaro, Managing Director of Megaworld Global Hotels & Resorts, the recognition presents an opportunity to bring homegrown hotel brands to wider audiences while strengthening the way Filipino hospitality is consistently delivered across properties.
“What makes this recognition meaningful is that it puts a spotlight on what is already strong about our hospitality: the destinations we represent, the people behind every stay, and the genuine care Filipinos naturally extend to Guests. Our responsibility is to keep strengthening the systems, people, and service standards that allow these qualities to be experienced consistently across our hotels, while giving our brands greater visibility across more markets and channels,” Alvaro said.
Filipino by Design, Competitive by Standard
Savoy Hotel Manila first won Asia’s Leading Airport Hotel in 2021 and has held the Philippines’ Leading Airport Hotel title every year since. Its 2026 recognition adds another regional milestone to a brand built around operational consistency and the Filipino Guest experience.
Central to that experience is the Sampaguita Brand of Service, guided by the values of Love, Honor, Dignity, and Healing. Across the group, it is reinforced through training, Guest touchpoints, service standards, and daily hotel operations, while allowing each property to reflect the character of its destination, people, and local culture.
For MGHR, maintaining this balance becomes increasingly important as the portfolio grows. Each property must deliver a consistent level of service while remaining relevant to the destination it represents.

Taking the Savoy Brand to More Philippine Destinations
Today, the Savoy brand operates in Manila, Boracay, and Mactan, Cebu.
Its Philippine footprint is set to expand further with Savoy Hotel Capital Town in San Fernando, Pampanga, a 374 room development within Megaworld’s 35.6 hectare Capital Town, and Savoy Hotel Palawan in Paragua Coastown, San Vicente.
As the brand expands, maintaining service consistency becomes equally important. Each new Savoy property is expected to carry the same operating discipline and service culture while adapting its Guest experience to the destination it serves.
The Savoy brand forms part of MGHR’s growing portfolio of 16 hotels, with the group targeting nearly 12,000 hotel rooms by 2032 across key Philippine destinations.
As that portfolio expands, MGHR continues to align operations, people development, service standards, and destination identity across its hotels. The aim is to ensure that growth in room inventory is matched by the quality and consistency of the Guest experience.
For MGHR, success is measured not only by how many hotels it operates, but by how consistently each property brings Filipino hospitality to life in ways that feel relevant to its destination and meaningful to its Guests.
