Open Letter To All Kalibo Public School Teachers

The Kalibo Teachers Association expresses its sincere gratitude and support for Executive Order No. 070, s. 2026 issued by Hon. Mayor Juris B. Sucro in observance of National Teachers’ Day and World Teachers’ Day.
We respectfully clarify that the Executive Order suspends regular academic activities only, not work or official school functions. Its purpose is to provide teachers, learners, school personnel, parents, and other stakeholders sufficient time to meaningfully participate in recognition programs and activities honoring teachers.

It must be emphasized that October 5, 2026 remains a Special Working Holiday under Republic Act No. 10743. The Executive Order specifically states that it shall not be construed as a non-working holiday. Therefore, teachers are expected to be present and participate in Teachers’ Day celebrations, recognition ceremonies, fellowship activities, and other school-sponsored programs prepared in their honor.

The suspension of classes is intended to support the meaningful observance of Teachers’ Dayโ€”not to provide a day free from service or duty. Interpreting it otherwise would be inconsistent with the spirit and purpose of RA 10743, which seeks to recognize, appreciate, and celebrate the invaluable contributions of teachers to education and nation-building.

Let us celebrate this occasion with gratitude, professionalism, and pride in our noble calling.

Happy National Teachers’ Day and World Teachers’ Day!

From:

A Concerned Teacher of Kalibo
