Western Visayas Raises Disaster Alert To Blue Over El Nino 2026

ILOILO CITY — The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Region VI – Western Visayas has elevated its alert status from WHITE to BLUE effective 8:00 AM, October 10, 2026, in response to the ongoing El Niño phenomenon.
In Memorandum No. 82, Series of 2026 issued October 9, 2026, the council noted that below-normal rainfall in recent months has adversely affected water resources across the region, with Aklan, Antique, and Guimaras already experiencing dry conditions based on the latest PAGASA outlook.
The decision follows a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) held earlier that day. The BLUE Alert means heightened monitoring and enhanced coordination throughout the duration of the El Niño event.
Five response clusters have been activated to ensure rapid assistance and emergency action:
– 📦 Logistics Cluster
– ⚖️ Law and Order Cluster
– 🍚 Food and Non-Food Cluster
– 🏥 Health Cluster
– 📢 Crisis Communication Cluster
All member agencies and provincial/city/municipal/barangay DRRMCs are directed to submit regular situational reports and updates via:
– 📧 Email: odcrc6@gmail.com / region6@ocd.gov.ph
– ☎️ Tel: (033) 511-0680

The RDRRMC VI urges all local government units and the public to remain prepared and vigilant amid the expected dry conditions.
