The Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO) is continuing its “Basic Self defense activity for the Lady Warriors of Light ” which was first held last March 31, 2022, in the culmination of the Women’s month celebration.
After the success of the first activity, the management has decided that it will carry on hosting classes for its “AKELCO SELF DEFENSE CENTER
” The program aims to teach AKELCO’s women employees as well as their families the importance of self-defense in an ever changing society.”
The basic skills taught are so that women are empowered enough to protect themselves from unwanted situations and for them to be able to confidently take action in such conditions. \
AKELCO ladies were also able to learn the Tapondo technique on basic hold defense, punch defense, stick defense, knife defense, hand gun threat and Arnis Self defense instructions.
This was made possible through the efforts of Acting General Manager Atty. Ariel B. Gepty and the dedication of former BOD Jose Repiedad, a blackbelt holder in Karate, Sikaran, Arnis and Taekwondo.
Classes are held every Friday and Saturday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Job Y. Besana Hall, AKELCO compound, Lezo, Aklan.
