Aklan province enacts ‘Ligtas Biyahe sa Paskwa’ to ensure sage holiday travel

KALIBO, Aklan- Provincial Government of Aklan, through the Road Safety Task Force, is implementing the โ€œ๐™‡๐™ž๐™œ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™จ ๐˜ฝ๐™ž๐™ฎ๐™–๐™๐™š ๐™จ๐™– ๐™‹๐™–๐™จ๐™ ๐™ฌ๐™–โ€ holiday road safety campaign on December 22โ€“23, 2025, to promote safe travel and reduce road traffic accidents during the Christmas season.
The campaign forms part of the provinceโ€™s continuing road safety initiatives pursuant to General Ordinance No. 2020-004, otherwise known as the Road Safety Ordinance of the Province of Aklan, and Executive Order No. 046, Series of 2025. It is being carried out through the coordinated efforts of national government agencies, local government units, and enforcement authorities.
The โ€œ๐™‡๐™ž๐™œ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™จ ๐˜ฝ๐™ž๐™ฎ๐™–๐™๐™š ๐™จ๐™– ๐™‹๐™–๐™จ๐™ ๐™ฌ๐™–โ€ campaign includes intensified traffic law enforcement, increased visibility of uniformed personnel along major roads, and the conduct of public information and education activities to remind motorists and commuters of road safety rules and responsible road use.
Key implementing agencies include the Land Transportation Office, the Philippine National Police, and concerned local government units, with operational support and coordination provided by the Road Safety Task Force. The Provincial Planning and Development Office serves as the lead Technical Working Group (TWG), facilitating inter-agency coordination and monitoring.
On ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™›๐™ž๐™ง๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™™๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™ค๐™› ๐™ž๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ก๐™š๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ, ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™™๐™–๐™ฎ, ๐˜ฟ๐™š๐™˜๐™š๐™ข๐™—๐™š๐™ง 22, 2025, monitoring teams recorded several traffic violations, particularly involving some jeepney drivers. Common violations noted included the absence of valid OR/CR, defective or non-functioning signal lights, and other vehicle compliance deficiencies.
The inspection was conducted by the Road Safety Task Force and led by the Land Transportation Office, under the supervision of ๐™€๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™ง. ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ง๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™‘๐™š๐™ก๐™š๐™ฏ. Inspections were carried out at major transport terminals in the ๐™ˆ๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™˜๐™ž๐™ฅ๐™–๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ ๐™ค๐™› ๐™†๐™–๐™ก๐™ž๐™—๐™ค, including the ๐˜พ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ก๐™ก ๐™๐™š๐™ง๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™– ๐™๐™š๐™ง๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก.
