Aklanon award-winning CEO urged young people: ‘Normalize turbulence in every journey’
New Washington, AklanโThe award-winning 72-year-old Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maria Mercedes Resort and Convention Center at Barangay Malogo, New Washington Aklan, has encouragedย young people, especially those with entrepreneurial dreams, to normalize turbulence in every journey.
Dr. Ruffy Yu, who hails from Barangay Tambak, New Washington Aklan has this to say when asked for his wisdom to be imparted to the younger generation.
As a result of his insight, his resort was awarded for the second time this year as the Most Outstanding Convention Center and Private Resort for Aklan. The Asian Sterling Awards in Manila gave the award.
The award, now in its sixth year, is being given by the Asian Sterling Magazine.
“In every journey, there’s always turbulence. When you meet this turbulence, don’t stop -just keep going. Set goals – youย have long-term goals and short-term goals. Focus on your long-term goals because those are what will bring you to your destination,” he said.
The piece of advice was published in the Sterling Asia Magazine, where he was featured in the current 2025 issue.

The MM Resort and Convention Center is considered the widest inland resort in Aklan, with a 4.4-hectare property with various amenities such as a swimming pool, fishing area, slides, restaurant, and bar, among others.
