Banga, Aklan- Bandiolaโ€™s Piรฑa Weaving from Banga, Aklan, emerged as the Top Seller Awardee for the Non-Food Category, during the recently-concluded DTI-Bagong Pilipinas National Trade Fair held on

February 18-22 at the Megatrade Halls 1-3, Level 5, Mega B, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
They stood out among the 335 exhibitors coming from the different provinces and regions in the
country.

An Aklanon-based local enterprise, owned by Ms. Bogie Bandiola and with the support of her
family members, they manufacture piรฑa-based products including piรฑa cloth, dresses and
barongs, and recently, they have ventured in making fashion accessories highlighting the piรฑa
fabric as accent.

As a first-time participant to the said trade fair, they have showcased the provinceโ€™s piรฑa weaving
industry that reflected in both cash sales and booked orders during the 5-day trade fair. They
have captured the patronage of local shoppers as well as institutional buyersโ€”a reflection of
timeless pieces combined with innovative designs adapting to the modern style.

Other MSMEs featured were Dodong and Mikay Piรฑa Weaving, Elizabeth Rasonable Piรฑa
Weaving, Faith Native Products, Handicraft of Aklan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (HAMPCO), La
Herminia Fibers and Looms, Raquel’s Piรฑa Cloth Products and Sunshineโ€™s Breadmart, who have
showcased the best of Aklanon products in the national trade fair scene.

โ€œThis win is for our Aklanon MSMEs who have proven and time and time again that our local
products are worth celebrating and something to be proud of. It is a timeless treasure for the
Aklanons and the local piรฑa weaving industry that we have continuously worked on preserving,โ€
says DTI 6 OIC-Asst. Regional Director and concurrent DTI Aklan Provincial Director, Romel L.
Amihan.
