Another Aklanon Shines in the US, this time in Theater Arts

Altavas, Aklan- Another Aklanon has recently feted in the United States of America, this time in the field of theater arts.
John Charles Quimpo, from Altavas, Aklan, told the Boracay Island News Network (BINN) that he recently was tagged as the Best Supporting Performer in A  Play by the Broadway World San Francisco Bay Area Awards.
The BINN has featured several Aklanons’ works in (Hollywood) Los Angeles, California for two years. They were Maria Damian of Barangay Estancia, Kalibo, and Tommy Mopia of Makato, Aklan.
“This incredible achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support and inspiration from my amazing castmates—Flannery Mays, Mark Anthony, Kyle Goldman, and Melody Payne Alonzo. You all have been my inspiration throughout this journey! A special shoutout to our brilliant Director, Richard Perez, and the entire crew and company at Town Hall Theatre. Your talent, dedication, and passion are truly unmatched, and I am so grateful to have shared this experience with such an extraordinary team,” Quimpo said in his Facebook post on January 17, 2025.
The BroadwayWorld San Francisco (USA), considered itself as the world’s biggest and best theater site.

Quimpo also known as JC, is a stage performer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Originally from the Philippines, JC has a rich history of competition success, having won Regional and Provincial Championships in Vocal Solo Classical and ​English Declamation.

Upon relocating to the United States, JC further honed his skills by training with the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in Musical Theater Performance. Recently, JC was honored with the Best Supporting Performer in a Play award by the BroadwayWorld San Francisco Bay Area Awards. His dedication and passion for the craft have been showcased in numerous Bay Area theater productions.

Notable recent performances include his role as Adult Trouble in the San Francisco Opera’s Centennial Season production of Madame Butterfly, Doctor Hoskins in Town Hall Theatre Company’s Human Error, Leaf Coneybear in Landmark Musical Theatre’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Chris and Dance Captain in Theatre Rhinoceros’ The Boy From Oz, and Bernstein in Redwood City Players’ Dogfight. JC continues to bring versatility and fervor to every performance, making an impact in the world of theater.
