
Iloilo City- The Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) convenes Regional, Provincial, and Municipal Quick Response Team (QRT) members for a Disaster Response Operations Updating to monitor the effects of Tropical Cyclone Nando and prepare for the possible impact of Tropical Depression Opong.
The meeting is held at the region’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
During the meeting, updates on the weather situation and the status of TC Nando and TD Opong are discussed. Provincial QRTs also provided reports on their disaster response operations.
All QRT members are instructed to monitor evacuation centers, conduct psychosocial activities, hold preparedness meetings with city and municipal QRTs, prepare for the activation of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Protection, and FNIs Clusters, and assist in Food and Non-Food Item (FNFI) replenishment and prepositioning inventory.
On behalf of OIC-Regional Director Joselito G. Estember, Human Resource Management and Development Division (HRMDD) Chief Ryan Dela Gente reminds the QRT members to consistently check the status of stockpiles in preposition sites, ensure readiness for the incoming tropical depression, and replenish supplies, especially those at critical levels.
As of today, a total of 10 municipalities have already been affected by the weather disturbance: five from the province of Iloilo, four from the province of Antique, and one from the province of Capiz.
DSWD6 has already provided Php 136,009 worth of assistance to the affected families in the form of FNFIs, while Php 117 million worth of relief resources are on standby and ready for deployment.
The Regional QRT also informs members that Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) items are prepositioned in port areas for possible stranded individuals.
DSWD6 emphasizes that in times like this, the Department remains ready to provide aid to those affected, ensuring that no family is left behind./dswd6/cdf
