Kalibo, Aklan — The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Kalibo conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) on September 24, 2025 as part of its proactive preparedness measures for the possible effects of Tropical Storm “OpongPH.”
The PDRA brought together MDRRMO personnel, barangay officials, and partner agencies to review hazard maps, weather advisories, and community vulnerabilities. Focus areas included low-lying and flood-prone barangays, particularly those near rivers and coastal zones.
Preparedness strategies tackled during the assessment include:

Prepositioning of rescue equipment and relief goods

Inspection and readiness of evacuation centers

Standby deployment of medical and rescue teams

Activation of communication lines and early warning systems
MDRRMO Kalibo called on all residents to remain alert, follow official advisories, and cooperate with barangay authorities in case of evacuation.
“Preparedness saves lives. Our goal is to make sure that the people of Kalibo are safe and ready for any possible impact of Tropical Storm OpongPH,” said MDRRMO Chief Mr. Terence June T. Toriano.
