DTI Aklan Launches Franchise Forum to Boost Local Entrepreneurship

Kalibo, Aklan — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Aklan successfully conducted a Franchise Introduction Forum and Investment Financing Session on April 29 at the Ati-Atihan Festival Hotel, aimed at encouraging Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and local residents to explore entrepreneurship through franchising. The event is part of the national FRANCHISE program—Fostering Rapid Advancement through Networking and Collaborative Hubs for Investment and Sustainable Enterprise—under the leadership of DTI Secretary and implemented locally by Provincial Director Romel L. Amihan.

Director Amihan highlighted the importance of supporting OFWs and local entrepreneurs in starting sustainable businesses. “Franchising offers a tested business model with built-in support, giving our kababayans a better chance to succeed,” he said.

One of the highlights of the forum was the participation of Prime Bread & Butter Bakeshop, a leading homegrown franchise from Kalibo. The company shared its success story and offered practical insights to aspiring franchisees. Meanwhile, Small Business Corporation (SB Corp.) presented financing programs available for new entrepreneurs, including loan facilities for OFWs planning to invest in local franchises.

The event drew strong interest from attendees, with many expressing intent to pursue business ventures in the province—signaling a promising future for local enterprise development in Aklan.
